About The Project
The Reality in Kenya
Across Kenya many underprivileged youth are unable to afford post-secondary education. Without marketable skills, they face unemployment, continued poverty, and a wasted potential.
At the same time, Kenya’s plumbing industry desperately needs trained professionals – but these youth can’t access the education.
The Compassion Difference
Compassion aims to provide targeted vocational training to bridge the skill gap and to enable Kenyan youth to have the tools needed to achieve economic independence.
Your generosity would help to equip 35 Compassion assisted youth in Kenya with plumbing and pipefitting skills, empowering them with marketable skills and future leadership roles in their communities.
What the Project Provides
1 year of plumbing and pipefitting training at Kenya Water Institute (KWEI) for 35 youth including:
Full tuition (46% of budget): Nationally recognized certification program
Accommodation (43% of budget): Housing so youth can attend full-time
Work readiness & mentorship (5% of budget): Job placement support, entrepreneurship training, leadership development
Local contribution (6% of budget)
Gender equity focus: 25% female participants (breaking barriers in male-dominated trades)
The total project is expected to cost AU$47,800. Sole Encounters aims to raise $10,000 towards this amount.
Project Timeline
February 2026: Youth enrolled, training underway
January 2027: Graduation with certifications
Post-graduation: 76% employment rate within 6 months (based on Compassion's historical outcomes)
